"AITA For not letting my 16 year old go on spring break without adult supervision?"

    I (40f) have a 16-year-old daughter who wants to go on a spring break trip with 3 of her friends, 2 18-year-olds and 1 17 year old. it's roughly a 12 Hour

year old. it's roughly a 12 Hour Drive and there would be no adult supervision going with them. I have explained to her it's not about not trusting her. It's about

fair. so while the answer will still be now, I told her I would hear out the Internet parents/college age kids that will agree with me and explain she shouldn't be going on a spring break trip at 16.

It seemed like there were a lot of moms in the comments, because everyone said this girl shouldn't go on this trip.

NTA - I was a VERY responsible 16yo and I still wouldn't trust a cluster of perfect copies of myself

Absolutely not, she is 16. She can do spring break when she is college herself

NTA. Depending on your jurisdiction, it may be illegal for your daughter to go on an unsupervised trip without a parent or guardian. This is not a day trip from Philadelphia to Cape May.

Your daughter can be the most reliable, sensible 16- year-old in the history of time, but that will not stop her from being roofied. Right now, she is probably mad at you, but it's better to be mad at your parents than assaulted and/or de d.

These moms are strict these days!

NTA. Mom of adult daughters here. My answer would be absolutely not. She's a minor and you're responsible for her well- being.

NTA Big Nope. When she is 18 she can go, or at least it's a discussion to have. Sit her down to watch a Natalie Holloway documentary. Just no. It's not about her and you should tell her that. There are just so many human that don't care about destroying lives out there.

    Come on, it's character building.

Not at her age. Quite frankly, I've seen 20/21 year olds who shouldn't have gone

Four underage girls with no adults around, binge drinking and then getting assaulted by strangers? Sounds great. NTA

To mom Maybe if it wasn't - so far. You can't just come save her if something happens! NTA

One mom told her own teen spring break story.

I agreed to something similar but it was about an 8 hour drive. I was concerned, so I took some time off and planned a vacation with my other daughter in a city about an hour away, so I'd be available nearby.

In the meantime, she got into some trouble, and we grounded her, and other kids backed out anyway because they couldn't get their plans together.

So, I left her home and continued on with my vacation. I have fond memories of that vacation.
